Mariel is a folk-rock singer-songwriter. She writes songs that are scapes: soundscapes, landscapes, escapes. A DC area native, she currently attends high school in Arlington, Virginia. Her performances include an appearance for the American Heart Association on the National Mall and multiple appearances with music education organization Sound Impact. She became the youngest finalist ever in the youth division of the Bernard Ebb Songwriting Awards at age 11. In conjunction with the Round House Theatre, she also opened for Audra McDonald at the Hamilton in DC. Storytelling is her highest priority in songwriting, both lyrically and musically, and she is currently hard at work on her Mindworld project, a sprawling narrative concept album inspired by the wonder and whimsy of old fantasy novels.
