Duke grew up like most of us, the child of his parents. His dad took great pride in a spotless kitchen and perfectly boxed lunches and plated meals. His mom never met a weapon she didn’t immediately run away from. He was the youngest of 5 and quickly grew in stature, plateauing in middle school, never to grow again. By chance, he discovered a CD by The Walkmen at a Borders Bookstore in 2003 and his life trajectory was forever changed. It was at his first listen to “Wake Up” that he knew he was going to sell residential mortgages and have many children and tinker around on an old Telecaster and Jazz Chorus Amp in the corner of his dining room.
